About Us
There are two main charities fighting for the preservation of Chichester
Harbour, The Friends of Chichester Harbour and The Chichester Harbour
Trust. The two act in harmony but have distinctly different objectives.
In brief these are:
Friends of Chichester Harbour fund conservation, amenity and education
projects in cooperation with Chichester Harbour Conservancy. In addition the
charity provides weekly working parties controlled and directed by the Harbour
Conservancy Rangers. The Friends are also represented on various committees
in the governance of the harbour and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Chichester Harbour Trust works to acquire land, sites and buildings
within the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
to secure its conservation and future for public benefit. Their website, www.chichesterharbourtrust.co.uk explains
further.
